Dawn Daniels | Director of Programs

Dawn Daniels is the Director of Programs at the Noble Maritime Collection. She holds a degree in Arts Education from Empire State College, SUNY, and has twenty years experience in museum administration, developing school programs, adult tours, and concerts. She served as the museum’s Director of Programs from 2005-2008 and returned in 2013. She wrote its education programs Annie’s Journey to America, and Kate's Home in the Harbor. An accomplished Irish step dance teacher and choreographer, she uses her performing arts background to enhance our education programs, which teach students about maritime history and New York Harbor.

Megan Beck | Curator

Megan Beck began working at the Noble Maritime Collection in 2013.  She holds a Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from Pratt Institute anda Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, with a focus on cultural anthropology, from Boston University.  She researched and assisted with the development of the exhibitions Daily Life at Sailors’ Snug Harbor and Robbins Reef Lighthouse: A Home in the Harbor, curated This is a Print in 2019 and E.F. Neilson (1865-1909): Paintings by a New Brighton artist in the Sailors’ Snug Harbor Collection in 2021, and co-curated Andrea Doria: Rescue at Sea in 2022. She also oversees all curatorial and archival projects. 

Yvette Artemus-Wofford | Administrative Assistant

Yvette Artemus-Wofford was born in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn.  She attended Howard University in Washington, DC before moving to Staten Island in 1992 with her husband where she raised two girls.  She was employed with the United States Postal Service for 35 years and retired in June 2018.  Just a week after her retirement, Yvette  joined the staff of the Noble Maritime Collection as Administrative Assistant.

Nick Dowen | Weekend Manager

Nick Dowen was born and brought up in Lewistown, Montana.  He moved to New York in 1967 and settled on Staten Island in 1981.  His first New York job was in social service at the New York Association for the Blind, the Lighthouse.  Then he worked in sales for Arno Press, a scholarly reprint publisher owned by The New York Times Co., and for Marcel Dekker Inc., a scientific and performing arts publisher.  From 1978 to 1985 he was Assistant Manager of the Metropolitan Opera Gift Shop at Lincoln Center. At Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, from 2004 to 2009, he managed the Gift Shop.  In 2010 he joined the staff of the Noble Maritime Collection.
