Robert Kipniss, NA was born in New York City and studied painting and printmaking at the Art Students League, Wittenberg University, and received a Master of Fine Arts in painting and art history from the University of Iowa.  He has received several awards for his prints including the Speicher-Hassam Purchase Award from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, Silvermine Guild’s National Print Biennial Juror’s Award, the Daniel Serra-Badue Memorial Award from Audubon Artists, and the Cannon Prize from the National Academy of Design.  Kipniss’ work is in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.  He is an elected member of the National Academy of Design and is a retired member of the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers, London.
