Miriam Quen Cheikin, a native of New York, has had a lifelong involvement in the humanities and in the visual arts.  A professor emerita of Nassau Community College, she holds a doctorate in English and American Literature.  Now a member of the Society of American Graphic Artists, she has also been a member of the Art Students League for almost twenty years.  There she studied drawing, watercolor, and printmaking, and received awards of excellence in both drawing and printmaking.   In addition, she has had five two-person exhibits on Long Island where her drawings and watercolors were shown.  At the office of the President of the Borough of Manhattan in City Hall, she contributed a number of drawings to the exhibit Never a Day Without a Line.  She has also had works in Postcards from the Edge, an annual exhibition in Chelsea, and at the Goddard Institute in New York City.  Cheikin’s work is part of the permanent collection of the Newark Public Library.
