Albert Maennchen (1873-1935) was a German decorative arts and fresco painter.  First taught at home by his mother and older brother, Maennchen later worked as a painter’s assistant and then as a master craftsman in Berlin.  He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin and at the Academie Julian in Paris.  Maennchen contributed work to German exhibitions at both the 1900 World Fair in Paris and the 1904 World Fair in St. Louis.  He received the State Medal for Art from both France and the United States for his contributions to both World Fairs.
