Willie Chu began developing his skills in photography at the High School of Art and Design and received the BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts. He works in the field of commercial photography and video while pursuing personal projects. His work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions at venues including the Photo District Gallery, the Kevin Barry Gallery, Wagner College Gallery, Lumen, BWAC, and the Packwood House Museum, Pennsylvania, and he is a member of the Creative Photographers Guild (CPG). He is currently working with Saint Mark’s Church in the Bowery on a documentary about its annual event, Good Friday Blues, and on documentaries about Staten Island commissioned by SI Museum, Eden II, and the Historic Tappen Park Community. Chu has received several grants and awards including an award from si350 for “his captivating images of Staten Island’s diverse community,” an Original Work Grant, and a Premier Grant from COAHSI.
