William Behnken, N.A. is a life-long resident of New York City. He earned the BFA and MFA degrees from the City College of New York, where he has taught since 1970, and since 1998 he has taught printmaking at the Art Students League as well. Elected to the National Academy of Design and the Society of American Printmakers, Behnken’s work is included in the permanent collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the British Museum, the Fitzwilliam Museum, the New York Public Library Print Collection, the New York Historical Society, and the Indianapolis Museum. His drawing, Patient Vigil, is featured in Robbins Reef Lighthouse: A Home in the Harbor.
