Join us at the museum for an intimate evening with renowned musician Martin Furey, formerly of the folk group The High Kings. The oldest son of Ireland’s “Prince of Pipers” Finbar Furey, Martin is a multi-instrumentalist whose blend of traditional rhythms and contemporary folk style has entertained audiences for thirty years.

His music consists of well-known, forgotten, and original songs with Celtic and Americana roots, combining the musical ornamentation of the 19th century with an upbeat modern sound. Many of Martin’s finger-picking and chord styles were passed on by his father and through both grandparents, Ted and Nora Furey, who came from an ancient line of travelling musicians, indigenous to Ireland.

Highlights of Martin’s solo career include performing at London’s Trafalgar Square St. Patrick’s Celebration in 2012 to an estimated 15,000, and playing at Áras an Uachtaráin in 2015 at The White House by President Obama and at the The Pentagon by Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin E Dempsey (RET).
