All Sailors Sew!
Learn traditional hand and machine sewing techniques such as embroidery and appliqué, and experiment with mixed mediums like silk painting and weaving. Boys and girls learn about the history of Sailors' Snug Harbor and the rich tradition of maritime crafts. Campers make their own sailors "ditty bags" to hold their tools, as well as a variety of dolls, stuffed animals, clothing, and whatever else they can dream up. Special guest artists and musicians visit us during the week to share their skills and we visit the gardens and other museums on site for fun and inspiration.
