William E. Lyons’ photographs are not ink-jet printed; he works in his own darkroom using classic techniques and produces original sliver gelatin prints of his photographs. He moved to Staten Island in 2005 and is a staff photographer at the Staten Island Advance. He has been exhibiting his photographs for more than 30 years and has won many awards and had solo exhibitions at the Butler Institute of American Art, The Hoyt Institute, Westminster College Art, and the Chester County Art Association. Lyons received the Gordon Parks award, has been published in the Best of Photojournalism, and was selected as one of the 75 most influential artists in Chester County at the 75th anniversary of the founding of the county’s art association. His work has appeared in many publications, notably National Geographic, Best of Photojournalism, and Sunrust Magazine.
